A breast augmentation is an important step for many women toward finally feeling comfortable in their body again and boosting their self-confidence. At the same time, a procedure like this also comes with plenty of questions and uncertainties, especially when it comes to pain and healing after the breast surgery.

How long will I feel unwell after breast surgery?

After your breast augmentation at BRST, no inpatient stay is necessary. Just 30 to 60 minutes after the procedure, most of our patients are already fit enough to go home.

To support the healing process as well as possible, you should give your body a little rest and take it easy for a few days. Even though you don’t need to stay in bed, you should avoid strenuous activities for the time being. Short walks or light household tasks, on the other hand, can be resumed quickly.

Returning to normal activities happens comparatively quickly after a breast augmentation at BRST. When you can go back to work after the surgery depends on your individual healing process and the type of work you do. After just a few days, you can usually resume office work or other light activities again.

How long do I need a drain after breast surgery?

The breast augmentation without general anaesthesia is especially gentle. You don't need to worry about significant wound fluid after the surgery, so a drain usually isn’t needed either. In exceptional cases where one is necessary, we’ll give you detailed information as part of your individual aftercare about how long it stays in and when it will be removed.

How many kilograms am I allowed to lift after breast surgery?

During the first few weeks, be careful not to support your weight on your arms, and avoid sudden movements above shoulder height to keep from unnecessarily straining your chest muscles. Also avoid abruptly lifting anything over 5 kilograms of weight.

When it comes to sport: you can start training your lower body again after just one week. For full-body training, it’s best to wait at least 3 weeks.

Will I have pain for a long time after breast surgery?

Thanks to BRST’s gentle surgical technique, severe pain is not something you need to worry about. If you notice mild pressure pain or a pulling sensation in the breast, these symptoms can usually be well managed with mild pain medication.

A slight feeling of tightness in the breast in the first few days is completely normal. The tissue first needs to adjust to the new implants. This sensation typically subsides again after a few weeks.

How long does healing take after breast surgery?

An initial result is already visible shortly after the procedure. It can take a few weeks for the breast to take its final shape. During this time, it may still be swollen, feel firmer, and the implants may sit slightly higher than desired.

Over time, the breast settles back into its natural position and the swelling subsides. The final result is usually visible after 3 to 6 months, though the exact timing depends on various individual factors.

How long do I need to wear a plaster after breast surgery?

There are a few things to keep in mind when it comes to aftercare following a breast augmentation. Thanks to the Mia Femtech™ method, we can offer you a result with barely noticeable scarring. The scar from the almost invisible small incision in the armpit is hardly visible. Scar care is nonetheless a key part of aftercare. Of course, we’ll explain this to you in detail so that healing goes smoothly.

Applying special ointments or plasters helps keep your skin supple and minimises scarring. How long you need to wear the plaster depends on your individual wound healing. At BRST, we usually use special plasters that stay on the wound until your first follow-up appointment (about 1 week) and are then replaced if needed.

How long do I need to wear a compression bra and strap after breast surgery?

We’ll provide you with a compression bra, which is another important factor in the healing process. This garment helps reduce swelling and keeps the implants in the desired position. You should wear it for 6 weeks.

When you can sleep without a bra after breast surgery depends on your individual healing process. However, you should expect to wear a bra for at least 6 weeks.

A special breast strap is usually not required with the Mia Femtech™ method. In individual cases, we may recommend one - you’ll receive precise instructions for this during your personal consultation.

How should I sleep and get up correctly after breast surgery?

When sleeping, we recommend lying on your back as much as possible during the first week to avoid unnecessary pressure on the breast and support healing. Sleeping on your side is usually possible again from the 2nd week onward.

Many patients also ask us why they should sleep with their upper body elevated after breast surgery. Sleeping in a slightly elevated position on your back helps reduce swelling. It can also help stabilise the implants in the desired position, supporting optimal healing.

When getting up, make sure to roll onto your side first and push yourself up while putting as little strain on your arms as possible. This helps you avoid unnecessary pressure on your chest muscles.

When do I need to have my stitches removed after breast surgery?

We’ll see you at regular follow-up appointments to make sure healing is progressing as expected. With the Mia Femtech™ method, stitch removal usually isn’t necessary, since self-dissolving sutures are typically used.

You’ll receive your exact aftercare plan during a personal consultation. If you have any questions or concerns between appointments, the BRST team is available to you at any time.

In summary: a fast recovery thanks to modern techniques

By choosing the Mia Femtech™ method, you’re opting for a particularly safe and gentle breast augmentation characterised by a short healing period, without extended downtime and without significant pain. You’ll be back to your everyday life quickly, and with the right aftercare, patience, and conscientious care, you can feel confident in not only an aesthetically excellent result, but also a smooth healing process.
