Implant shape and profile

When it comes to implant shape, traditional breast augmentation distinguishes between round and anatomical, or teardrop-shaped, implants. Round implants can create a fuller décolletage, while anatomical implants, thanks to their natural teardrop shape, allow for particularly harmonious results. There are also innovative, diamond-shaped implants that achieve significantly more volume without creating a heavy-looking breast. These are also ergonomic, meaning they follow the body's movements closely and therefore look especially natural.

The implant's profile, or projection, is also tailored to your individual needs and desired aesthetic to create the most harmonious overall look possible. The optimal placement of the implant

The placement of the implant plays an important role in how natural the result looks. Several methods are available:

• Above the chest muscle (subglandular): this method is less invasive and particularly suitable for women who have enough of their own breast tissue. Because the chest muscle isn't cut during the subglandular method, patients typically experience less post-operative pain compared to other techniques and benefit from a faster recovery. Thanks to ergonomic, biocompatible implants, this above-the-muscle placement can now be used for almost any breast shape.
• Below the chest muscle (submuscular): this method is often chosen to achieve a more natural-looking result, particularly for women with little of their own breast tissue. However, this is a more extensive procedure and comes with more pain and a longer recovery time. Thanks to modern techniques, this type of placement is only rarely necessary.
• Dual plane: the dual-plane method is a hybrid between the submuscular and subglandular methods. The upper part of the implant is positioned beneath the chest muscle, while the lower part sits above the muscle, directly beneath the breast tissue.

The optimal implant placement for you depends on several factors. We determine the best method for you in a personal consultation. In most cases, however, we use the gentle subglandular placement at BRST.

Surgical technique for a breast augmentation without visible scars

Thanks to modern surgical techniques used at BRST, scarring from a breast augmentation can be reduced to a minimum. Incisions in the armpit (as used in the Mia Femtech™ method) or in the inframammary fold have proven especially effective, since they become barely visible once healed. Approaches such as the no-touch technique, in which neither the implant nor the breast tissue is touched directly, together with the use of single-use materials, ensure hygienic conditions and reduce the risk of complications.

There are several different approaches to achieving as natural a result as possible with breast augmentation.

1. Breast implants: biocompatible materials and technology

2. Fat transfer: the natural alternative

One advantage of this method is that no foreign material is used. However, the results aren't always stable in the long term, since some of the injected fat can be reabsorbed by the body over time.

3. Hybrid method: combining implants and fat transfer

This method combines the advantages of implants and fat transfer. It's particularly suitable for women who want a very natural-looking result while still achieving a larger volume. The patient's own fat is used to soften and camouflage the edges of the implants.
